I'm planning to buy a SUV but not sure it's better to buy end of this year or next year.

I'm planning to go for 1 or 2 year old ones, not the new. When do I get good deals.

I guess it helps if I buy before end of year so I can claim sales tax in 2010 deductions, does that apply for used car purchase as well?

Shortlisted SUVS:
- Lexus RX 350 (2008,2009 or 2010)
- Hyundai Veracruz (2008,2009 or 2010)
- ?? any other suggestions (Acura MDX, BMW X5 are out, I liked Lexus better)

I am not sure of tax deductions now -there were some earlier for green cars.

For new cars, I have got good deals during the last week of December. Reg 1/2 yr olds, keep checking vehicles outside Charlotte - Columbia, Atl etc...You will end up with good deals.

Depends on what kind of ride you like - If you do not mind maintenance costs then go for German cars which are known for performance, else Lexus is pretty good. Seems like RX has strong residual values and hence dealers do not budge much.
