Buying a Home
Is it better to wait till the holidays are over to look for a home? I know people take there home off the market due to the holidays. How is it in Charlotte?

We went house hunting Thanksgiving week and closed 2 days before Xmas so.....I guess if you have the time why not search. Some people want to close before the new year for tax reasons.

I would at least look at what is available right now. Chances are the current listings are pretty motivated to work something out especially if they are listed around this time of year.

Yeah, no reason not to poke around. Are you currently in Charlotte or would this require planning a weekend down and hotel stay to look at houses? If you're in the area, there's no harm in checking things out. Never know when you'll find the place right for you.

Exactly - its all about finding the perfect house for you. The number of houses on the market will likely have little bearing on that. Can't hurt to keep looking.

I don't think the time of the year matters. People, who really want to sell, don't take their home off the market. Serious sellers, the only kind you want to deal with, want their home sold. Hobby sellers, the kind who are not that serious or who have unreasonable expectations on pricing do this. You only want to deal with the serious seller bunch, the hobby sellers are a waste of your time. The way you ferret this out is to make an offer which the real estate agent says is an "insult' (who cares what they think) and a serious seller will at least respond with a counter.
