I would suppose, although I don't have the stats, that the number of ppl. moving to CLT has lessen during our housing and economic crisis. With people not being able to sell their houses in other parts of the country and others not be able to get financing I guess the numbers are down.

Is this the case?

I live in Mooresville and have noticed that almost nobody has moved into the many new houses that were built during the boom, and on top of that a lot of the people who bought at the peak have either sold for a loss or been foreclosed upon.
So yes, I can certainly believe that it would be the case almost anywhere.

It's probably going the other way now as the Potemkin economy in the Charlotte metro built on fraud, unrealistic expectations, and ignorance continues to disappear. Gone with the Wind. Part II.

I moved here because of the crisis. Charlotte had many more jobs than the Upstate of SC.

yes, on a recent driving trip to Chicago, we noticed several moving trucks towing cars that had southern plates going north...(so, I think that it is a reverse migration)

Oddly enough, I was having a conversation at Ingles related to this question today.

I don't know about anywhere else, but in recent months I have noticed far less hispanics around Kings Mountain, but this has been offset by an increase in Asians. Today I saw a Budddist monk.
