Had a structure fire in Mint Hills area. My department assisted in water shuttling because of no hydrants in the area. Closet hydrant was 2 miles away.

House Fire Started With Thanksgiving Dinner Preps - News Story - WSOC Charlotte

Then a roll over with pin in on Camp Stewart rd. Was a exausting holiday.

Why would anyone build a house or a subdivision for that matter that didn't have a hydrant in it or nearby?

it probably was built long ago....an old farm house or something

I was wondering because the nearest hydrant to my house is on another street. There aren't any hydrants anywhere on my street. My subdivision was built in the 1980s.
