YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. I agree with you. I don't know why people complain to drive to Fort Mill. its not that far for anybody and it is worth it for family fun at affordable prices. If they move that stadium uptown the parking will be as much at the futre ticket prices: $10-$15 parking +$10 starting ticket prices+ increased food and drink prices= est $25-30 per person. $60-$80 for avg families. If they move the stadium uptown, I will boycott by not attending. You are right about the MECK gov spending though. I hate to say it and women please don't get offended but the CHARMECK GOV and CITY literaly are rapist.
Maybe they will learn from the mistakes of Bobcats Arena and not charge an arm and a leg for everything.
FWIW LM, having the stadium uptown has many benefits, including the ones you mentioned. I just have a problem with who is paying for it.
I agree with CG here--I'm in the same boat. The only thing I'd add is that my parking slot will definitely go up, and the number of days I can use it 24 hours is going to go down. That's a small thing--it's the government spending that's the big thing.
Yeah the tickets they are practically giving away. This IMO cannot be compared to the Knights. We all like the Knights in Charlotte. Most did not care for the owners of the Hornets or the NBA which left a bad taste in our mouths. Eventually the Bobcats will become popular. Wait until they make the playoffs one time you will not be able to find a ticket!!
I think you are on to something. The popularity of the NBA as a whole has really tanked in the last few years - too many overpaid thugs. And George Shin definitely ruined enjoyment of the Hornets for a lot of people, whereas the Knights are well-loved.

Hey, we agree on something!!! Yes, my distaste for the NBA began with George Shin. I now hate the NBA, college is much better! In fact, the pro sport I really follow now is NFL.....rreeeaaarrr rrrreeeaarrr rrrreeeeaaaarrrr!!!

Well I guess hell has really frozen over, LOL!
I'm with you on the college sport thing too - I much prefer college basketball and football teams

You bring up a really good point. Hopefully, the NFL doesn't follow suit (though they seem to be trying really hard).
Bobcats arena is a relatively new development--how about Bank of America stadium? How did that impact Uptown? There's a history to be explored there. It might give an idea as to how the baseball stadium might fare.
I understand we're going from a "major league" team to a minor league team, but there could be some similar trends. And there is that bit about the Panthers only playing on Sundays--but there have been Monday night and Thursday night games.
They moved it in Greensboro, and it was awesome! People now love going to games - beer specials on Thursdays, fireworks on Fridays...their attendance has increased each year and often have sellouts. I'd prefer a new major league team instead, but I guess the Knights will do for now.

Well I was too young to remember the parameters when getting the Panthers, but I do know it was WELL received by Charlotteans. Of course, so were the Hornets when we first got them.
I think the difference with the Panthers is the team and management have been nothing less than a class act, save a few characters.
The Panthers have really pulled Charlotte together, bringing unity to the city more than anything else, imo. I love the Panthers, how they operate, and what they do for the city of Charlotte.
My concern is that once the Knights are in place uptown, in 10 years the powers that be will decide that we simply must have major league and then the Knights stadium will be too small....deja vu anyone?

ahem...you mean blowing up an existing coliseum to be replaced by condos and businesses?
