I am considering a move to Charlotte. We really like the Huntersville/Davidson area;specifically Northstone.
My main concern is: We would be leaving a VERY safe area of Long Island, NY. I'm concerned about the crime stats for Charlotte. Are these stats inflated? Also, does it spill over to the Huntersville area? I have four small children.
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

You can put your mind at ease. Safety won't be an issue here. I personally don't find it to be an issue anywhere in the metro area really, but I'm a guy so others might disagree.

Huntersville is NOT Charlotte - it is its own city with its own police force and its own crime stats, don't confuse the two cities

Crime is all around us no matter where we go. Be cautious where ever you go. Join the national crime prevention program and be participant in protecting your neighborhood by reporting any suspecious persons in the area to the authorities. Besides the above I pray every day and call among Gods blessing and protection on my life and that of my family. You should to the same and also trust and believe that he will take care of you. Have a blessed week.

I have lived in Huntersville for over a year now and feel very safe. As a young small female I feel safe out by myself at night within Huntersville. I hope that helps.

Also, Loves is right. Huntersville has its own police department and its own crime stats.

I lived in Huntersville for 8 years and I never felt threaten or witness crime its basically just a bedroom community Occasionally Crime will occur at North Lake Mall and the bad guys try to escape to Huntersville.
First thing I notice when I moved to Huntersville they have cops on the road alot mainly looking for traffic violations.

There's been no crime of any type in that community in the last year according to the crime mapper on Charlotte news, Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Bobcats, weather, traffic, sports, banking, North Carolina, real estate, jobs, cars | CharlotteObserver.com (http://www.charlotte.com - broken link). I believe you've found a very safe community.

Northstone is very safe and very family friendly. The worst thing that's happened there is a couple of teenagers stole a golf cart and crashed it. There are TONS of kids in that neighborhood.

You can check the crime stats with the Huntersville Police Department and other localities. Living here for the past 4 months and feel very safe. Northstone is a beautiful community. Huntersville is not Charlotte as Loves mentioned. Huntersville is very desirable IMHO. Good Luck.
