something I found a few years ago that really helped me was the heated mattress pad. I LOVE it! The last straw was shivering in bed for 90 min trying to fall asleep with a t-shirt and sweatshirt, sweatpants and thick hunting type socks and still cold.
Actually, the alpaca blanket my son bought me in Peru is better...it is SO WARM and yet light weight.
I've been able to disconnect the heated mattress pad as well as shut off the electric space heater that I kept on in my bedroom. The timer-t-stat shuts the house heat down to 62 overnight, but, turns it back up to 70 before I wake up. However, with the alpaca blanket, comforter & flannel sheets I am comfy. And, that is not an easy feat for me in the cold!
