Oh. Well thank you for clarifying. I was (clearly) offended and a little bit horrified that someone thought my kitchen was a morgue, especially since we have tried to bring a lot of warmth in.

Nothing morgue-like about it. It's very pretty. What color is that on the wall? That's the one thing I can't decide on. I've got white cabinets on the top, dark brown almost black on the bottom, light countertop and white subway tile backsplash. The hardwood floors are right in the middle color wise. So I can do whatever i want on the walls. But I can't decide. And I'm a she. It's funny how people on thiss ite always think I'm a guy.

That sounds beautiful! I love the combination of white and dark wood. The color is a medium-dark greyish blue. I don't remember the name, but we have a paint chip somewhere and I'll see if I can dig it up. I do know it's an Olympic color from Lowes.

Hi, I like your kitchen too. It is nice. What shade/color are the counters? That shade of blue for the paint is very nice also! Looks good.

thanks! Our counters are on this page, seven rows down in the middle. They are called Riveria: The Colors of Corian®

The popularity and variety of Corian has really exploded since we built our house five years ago. There are many beautiful types available now. At the time, this was one of the only neutral but non-white colors available. If we had to do it over again now we would pick a slightly warmer color, but this was about as dark as it got way back in 2005.

Eh, to me it just looks very generic. Dark cabinets and granite counter tops are considered the basic requirements for a kitchen in today's homes. In a few years that combination of dark cabinets and granite will make your kitchen look dated from the early 2000s. If you're going to go with granite I think its better to go with a lighter cabinet color. It helps the kitchen feel more open, all that darkness just shrinks the kitchen.

Default Kitchen

Hello everyone! Thanks for all of your help! I've attached a picture of one of my kitchen walls. I'd just like to add a backsplash, different tile, and paint color on the wall. This is my starter home so I'm looking to spruce it up a little! Thanks in advance and any ideas would be appreciated.

Because your cabinets and counter are such a light color I would paint the walls a darker/strong color to create a nice contrast. I would also add nice knobs and pulls to the cabinet doors and drawers (you'd be surprised how much that can spruce it up). I am not sure about backslpash though. Maybe a pull the wall color in? I like the look of glass tiles.
