We like Villa Antonio, good Italian. Not too far from the airport.

I would recommend The Ranch House. It has been a while since I was there
but I can tell you that when I was last there it was wonderful and everyone I
talk to about the restaurant loves it. Their shrimp cocktail gets great reviews.
(I can't eat it) but I can attest to the blue cheese dressing it is superb!

http://www.oldstonesteakhouse.com/ is outside the range you gave at around 8 miles but is really good.

I can't attest to the quality at the Ranch House but I guess it depends on what type of person your boss is. It doesn't look very nice from the pictures on the site (and from the outside). Steak house, steak, chicken entrees. Charlotte, North Carolina.

Villa Antonio | Italian Restaurant of Charlotte North Carolina on S. Boulevard is good but also about 7 - 8 miles.

If he or she wants something he can't get anywhere else, BBQ King is about 4.2 miles from the airport but it is a drive-in. http://www.barbqking.net/

The Ranch House is an 'old Charlotte' restaurant - not at all pretentious. Food is very good.

It & the menu look just like the old-style steakhouses that were in the Midwest when I was a kid. Those places had excellent reputations for their food.

Doing a search it looks like not much in 5 mile radius. My best bets are Sullivan's or downtown, probably Capitol Grill or Bentley's. Sullivan's used to be one of my favorite steakhouses but last experience was not good. I thought of Palm, Del Frisco's, Toscano but I would think I'd hit rush traffic driving from airport to Southpark area around 6pm and it is further out than downtown restaurants. Took boss to Bentley's last time but it was great so may lean toward going back. Thanks for input.
