Your realtor should be able to send you listings that meet your criteria for a basement home.
Thank you for listing these development for me. I'll have to get searching.

Thank you all for your great advice.

Check out Brookhaven in the Matthews, Indian Trail area. Union county schools, close to the YMCA ans shopping, ball fields, etc.

If you have to travel to Uptown for your job, the commute is not too bad. Lots of your fellow NYers in the hood.

Great pool and amenities with a good HOA and in your price range.

Considering what is going on in the housing market, I can tell you for sure there are some basement homes available for that price.

Good luck and PM me if you have questions

Not sure what areas you are considering, but Morrison Plantation in Mooresville has some in the high 200's/low 300's.

Default Lawson basement home

We live in Lawson and have a full walk out basement. We are considering moving but the house is not on the market. This neighborhood is great, but we may want to downsize. We've considered "4-sale by owner" to save $$. If so, we would be posting the house on this website.

Our house in Cherry Grove has a full walkout basement, and we looked at another house there that had a fully finished basement.

We probably won't be staying in ours long enough to justify finishing it, but it's nice storage.
I'll sell it to you for $600k.

Just ask your realtor to run a search for basement homes.

We have a basement but I believe we are the only ones in our neighborhood. We live in an older neighborhood where everyone purchased land and had their own homes built, so no same home plans where we live.

We are in the process of finishing off our basement right now! We have used it even unfinished, but are finally finishing it. It is 980 sq. ft. and walks out to a 2 car garage.

Dawn, are you finishing it yourself or having a contractor do it? Just curious what contractors are charging per sq ft for basements.

No, DH is doing it himself. This is our 4th renovation house. He is a perfectionist and was not happy with the last contractor we hired, so he is doing it himself. He hates seams and is a perfectionist, so anyone who gets our house will have a very well done basement!

We did hire out for the electrical work ($800), and DH did the framing and insulation and had it inspected. Now he is drywalling.

We figure when all is said and done (framing, electrical, insulation, walls, cabinets, flooring, etc...) it will cost us around $10K. Hiring it out would be around $17K or so we figured. 980 sq. ft., 3 rooms, 220 wiring, built in surround sound in the media room, no plumbing.

How much does he charge?
Drywall is a real skill. I tried it once. Then the guy I hired had to spend a day undoing the mess I made.

Our basement has the plumbing roughed in. The previous owners had a design for the basement. Bedroom, office, rec room, bathroom. 1500sq ft total. I've heard people throw around numbers like $20/sq ft.
