StaceyNJ is on a distinguished road
Default Restaurant Business

Would anyone have any idea where we can find accurate salary ranges for careers? I know there are a few sites that have salary calculators but those are not always accurate... Wandering what the average salaries are in the restaurant business. Is anyone on this board employed in the restaurant business?

Our family is thinking about relocating to the Charlotte Area (actually Union County)..we are in a catch 22...not sure if we should sell our house move down then look for a job...or look for a job prior to moving....Our original plan was to put the house for sale in the fall...after it sells my dh was going to move down to the area and rent a home..and find a job opportunity...then after school year ended we would move down then start looking for a house.
We hear various takes on this on this board...some say employers will not make an offer until you are living in the area..others say dont move down without a job because the job hunt can take so long...Can I he ar what everyone has done? Also if you found a job opportunity before moving down how did that work...how did you interview from so far away...etc...

The only think I can think to do is contact the local culinary school (isn't Johnson & Wales there?) and see if they can give you the lowdown (I am assuming that somebody is a chef, when I say this). Other aspects of the restaurant biz I don't really know about.

I think that's a good suggestion.

Johnson and Wales-Charlotte

The Art Institute of Charlotte and Central Peidmont Community College also have Culinary programs. Good luck, StaceyNJ!
