Job Availability
Lots of people have mentioned their difficulty in getting a job once they have arrived in Charlotte. Many of those have been in the HR or financial field. I am a nurse and it seems the medical jobs are plentiful. Anyone have any input on that? Also, does Lake Wylie have a farmers market?

Given an aging populace, it stands to reason that any area with a large population will require those in the health care industry.
There is another post "How Long?" that covers some of this. It's definitely market-driven. It's all about what companies in the area need. Everyone will always need medical care, so no problems there. And until EMPs start becoming prevalent, I/T folks will be needed as well.
Unfortunately, I couldn't tell you word one about a Farmers' Market in the Lake Wylie area....sorry.

I know several nurses who relocated. What they've told me is there wasn't a problem finding employment at hospitals, clinics, etc. However most have said the pay is lower relative to where they were coming from (in this case Washington DC, New York, etc.), but, they are happy with the family life they were able to establish.

I am looking to relocate to Charlotte in the next 3 months. I am unfamiliar with the job market and is seeking help. I am currently a social worker at Jobs and family Services and have a B.S in Criminal Justice. I am not a licensed social worker at this time. Does anyone have suggestions of the Criminal Justice or Social Service Field?

there is a website called either Social Services or social services jobs .com, and you can put in a locale. I have not seen a lot in the Charlotte Observer for that field
