Carolina Panthers - Cursed
Well, IF you are a football fanl, unless you've been under a rock the past several days, you know there is a big contraversy regarding whether Andrew Luck will come out for the NFL draft and be the #1 pick for the Carolina Panthers.
He's made his decision and he's staying at Stanford.....
This is not good for the Panthers.....
Stanford’s Lucky day: QB to return for another season | CollegeFootballTalk
I wonder if it had anything to do w/the press conference that Jerry Richardson gave the other day? I now know why JR doesn't give pressers often.......

Other QBs?
That is interesting...so will the new Panthers hiearchy think Cam Newton or Ryan Mallet is better than what they currently have on the roster at QB?

I guess Luck would rather freeze his butt of in Buffalo (which is probably where the 1st pick will go next year). Personally, I would trade the first pick for a later 1st rounder and an early 2nd rounder. This team needs too much help and one player will not make that big of an impact. Not to mention Richardson seems to have a problem opening up the wallet and paying players....so whats to say he would even pay the 1st pick in the draft and avoid a long and ugly hold out. Lastly, as long as this team refuses to invest in high profile free agents...this team will do nothing...

My guess is that the Panthers will go after a free agent QB and pick a QB in the later rounds.....

First, he's only a Sophomore so there's no guarantee he would come out even next year.
Also, I don't think its a high probability that Buffalo will be the worst team. The way things look, the Panthers could be it again....(point is, no one knows w/high certainty who the team will be)
JRichardson scared me at that press conference...I know he's good for the league, but it sure didn't give the Panther PSL holders much confidence IMO....

Carolina Blue grabs lapels and steps up on podium...
Andrew Luck just said, "I would rather do homework and eat fish sticks in the cafe, than come to your sorry a$$ team, and make $30 million living in your sorry a$$ city!"
If this aint' a wake up call to Jerry Richardson, I don't know what is. I don't care what anyone says, this guy made this decision because he didn't want to play for the Panthers. Being the number one pick in the NFL draft is arguably the highest individual honor in all pro sports. Its also like winning the lottery. Its a once in a lifetime opportunity that could be taken away in an instance in the span of the next 365 days. He could get his degree ANYTIME! Luck had people around him who pointed out the following....
1) This team's owner just said, "I ain't spending no money to bring top players here, we're going to take our chances in the draft...forever."
2) The team has no coach, and the only prospects they're looking at are all defensivie coordinators. Succesful NFL teams in the "new millenium" are offensive minded. That's why the Panthers sucked these past few years in the first place.
The question now is, who do they pick? I never thought in a million years we'd get an opportunity to get Cam Newton, but all indications are they won't pick him. It'll be the Def End from Clemson. So, get ready for the first ever black outs in Panther history next year. Remember you heard it hear first.
...Carolina Blue climbs down off podium

I laughed at work when I read the news. Good news about about a lockout is that we'll have the number 1 pick in 2012. It would be really funny if Andrew Luck still didn't want to come play for us.
I guess fantasy football will do during these sad times for the Panthers.

A lockout would more than likely NOT last the entire season, so the chances of the Panther's getting the number one pick again are slim. Also on one of the sports shows today they said if there's a lock out all bets are off regarding what would happen to the draft. The number one pick is a once is a lifetime thing for both teams and players. That's why him staying is the worst news for the Panther's in years.

Maybe the best time to grab some cheap PSL's, what a blow to the Panthers.
He might end up in Oakland next year the way Davis has just screwed up his team again.

There's no guarantee this guy will be a success in the league, especially QBs. I think the Panthers got lucky, not being pressured to draft Luck and now being forced to address other issues that are key to the team's success. OFFENSIVE LINE, etc.
