Default Homes in the Waxhaw area and northeast from there...

Hey everyone. I'm somewhat new to this forum. The wife and I had a conversation last night and feel it might be time to relocate from NJ to the Charlotte area. We've been looking at homes in Waxhaw due to the fact that friends of ours moved into Waxhaw over a year ago and love it. It also seems that Waxhaw has a lot of new or newer home communities. My question is this though, what other areas of that area would be comparable to Waxhaw. Ideally, I like to look at homes like that from Waxhaw and mid-way to the Raleigh area so we can see what is out there. We also have two children in school (9 and 7 years old). Any help is greatly appreciated.

Waxhaw is nice/newer

and then you got Mooresville/Lake Norman area.
sorry can't answer the kids/school question...no experience there.

I moved to Charlotte from Cincinnati and am renting a home in Waxhaw currently.

Waxhaw is a nice quiet town. There's not much there except for the basics, but if you want the YMCA, shopping, and lots of choices for retail, look a little further north. Personally, Marvin, Weddington, Indian Trail, and areas closer to I-485 may be what you are looking for.

Waxhaw proper is really about 15 years behind the growth.

from NY here..neighbors from NJ..have home in Waxhaw (Cureton) and we absolutely love it...seems to attract a lot of people from northeast..something very familiar about the area especially north as you drive towards Weddington, Ballentyne, etc. Great area, great people...
