Hi! I need help yet again! I have a job interview next week for a teaching position in Mooresville. I am having trouble finding an affordable decent apartment, and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction!
Since I am a teacher (which means I make no $$$), I would LIKE to keep to at $600/month. But, I could go up to $700, or even a little over (any higher and I'll have to get a 2nd job ) I have found a few in that price range (Stonecreek, Willow Creek, River Park, etc...), but their ratings and comments at apartmentratings.com are not very nice. A lot have to do with complaints with NASCAR Tech students.

To sum it up, this is what I am HOPING for:
~$600 range, $700 max
~With-in 10 miles (15 max) of Mooresville
~Washer and Dryer hook-ups
~Safe area where my car will not be vandalized (already had to replace the tires once, and my car only has 4000 miles on it..... I have no desire to do anything like that again. Of course, I now have a lifetime guarantee, so I wouldn't have to pay again. But, my luck, they'd actually break into it!), nor will my apartment be broken into.
~I would REALLY like a 2 bedroom as I will often have family visiting, but a 750+ square foot 1 bedroom would do if necessary

Thanks in advance to anyone for their advice!

*I have no idea why apartments are so expensive in NC. In Michigan, I pay $390 for a 1-BDR, the most expensive 2 bdr in my area is under $800. And, I supposedly live in the "rich town" in my area! Plus, to compare salaries, entry level teachers make about $4,000-$5,000 a year here. They start in the high $33,000-$34,000 range, opposed to $29,000-$30,000 in NC.

You may want to consider looking into Huntersville,Cornelious,Davidson as well. All very close to Mooresville and i think the Nascar Tech students wont neccessarily be in those areas.
My son 5 years ago lived at Willow Creek, ( first wave of Nascar Tech. students) and i agree back then when i came to visit it was nutzo with too, to many students there, otherwise its a great place.

The nicest apartments in Charlotte area for the money is Bexley Harborside hands down. You can get a 1BR for less than 600, and a 1BR with garage for ~700. It's in Cornelius, exit 28, Catawba Lane, across from Midtown Sundries. You can walk to the marina. For perspective, Mooresville exits are 33 and 36. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks SOO much for the info! I think they may have raised their prices a bit, since apartments.com says $685 for a 1 bdrm. But, they look really nice! So, I will definitely check them out when I'm in the area! I;m trying to get my list down to about 5, then make a decision after I see them...

You're welcome....don't forget that you can usually talk them down for less than what the web says. There's plenty of ways to negotiate apartment rates/fees including deposits, monthly rent, and administration fees. They are usually of the mind set that they need you more than you need them.

Good luck!!!

I live at Stonecreek Apts, and have not had any problems...it would not hurt to look at them for yourself, just my advice.
