Thanks to all of you for your answers! I've never been to an Ikea! I had the day off tomorrow and thought I could talk hubby into going. I'm still working on him!

I usually have good luck with parking. Could be because by the time I get there, the early morning people are leaving!

I don't really NEED anything from Ikea but I just want the "experience" as another poster put it!

Vicki

When I was there they had a deal where if you spent over $100 you got your meals for free. I'm not sure if that's a regular thing or a one time thing, but it was a great bonus for an already great deal.

Its definitely worth doing at least once. Its a very different type of store, I havent seen another like it anywhere else. Just be sure to follow the markings in the floor to avoid getting lost, and you will be fine.

Remember also that coming south down I-85 from Raleigh, you will encounter possible heavy traffic going to Concord Mills, the Carolinas #1visited attraction. Again, that depends on the time of day and it's usually the exit ramps backing up onto the interstate.

As long as you bring your patience you will be fine. If you do decide to buy something, be sure to write down the name and item number when you see it. You will have to find it in the market downstairs and that can be confusing. Oh and definitely get a cinnamon bun after you go through the check out. They're only $1. Enjoy your day!

Yeah, it is a good day experience because if you like what you are seeing and it is crowded, it will take you hours to see everything.

I am really not a huge Ikea fan. Went a couple of weeks ago as I am looking for an entertainment center. It would cost about $1,200 at Ikea, went to Haverty's and could buy a nice solid piece for $1,400. For a $200 difference I'll take the nice piece of furniture.

One of my friends in CA did have her kitchen re-done by Ikea and it looked great.

Ikea is great for some things like kitchen and closet organization, frames, some decor and furniture that doesn't get a ton of wear and tear. It is also good for those who don't have a lot of money, but need some furniture.

Every time I go there I want to move to NYC and rent a 400 sq ft. apartment!
