Need Advice regarding Fireplace (home, inspector, garden)

Hi All!

Apparently when the Inspector did inspect the house, he never turned on the gas fireplace in the family room. We found a huge blanket that has covered the opening as you look up.

Any recommendations of who to call in to have a look at it to see: if it can be converted to a wood fireplace, coal, etc. for an additional heating source?

That would ahve made a nice chimney fire.

Owens is probably the biggest and most reputable company around. Not cheap but they are good.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Yeah, what a shock when we found it! Then, I was told that if the gas is off, they do not check the Fireplace. Thank godness we did not turn it on!! I will check Bob Davis Chimney and if anyone else has a personal experience with a company, please chime in. Thanks.
