Vehicle Registration
I have a few questions on Vehicle Registration.
I just moved from MI and I also need to get a Driver's Lisence for NC.
Can I take my tests, register to vote, and do car registration at the same time?
What do I need to bring to register the vehicle? I have the title, but no documents of purchase price or anything. I paid 12,000 for 2003 Elantra.
How much should I expect to pay? I found a plate fee of $28, and the 3% fee (no more than 150???), anything else?
I know I need my original driver's license, marriage certificate, Proof of Residency, Liability Insurance, and S.S card to get the driver's license.
I also need the N.C License, title, and old registration for register in NC. Anything I'm missing?
Thanks!

yes, you will have to pay property taxes on your vehicle..i moved in february 2007.. registered my vehicles..just got my bill for both my vehicles..they totalled a little over $500..it is based on the value of your car..you will also need an emissions test every year..that cost me about $50...

First, you need car insurance, they will give you paper work that you have to take to the DMV in order to register your vechicle. The drivers license process and offices is seperate from this process. The taxes process is included with the registration process, but this is a seperate transaction also.
The drivers test is taken at the DMV. I'm not sure how much that costs. I beleive you will need your title and lien release if the vehicle is paid in full.
Good Luck, if I'm missing something here. sorry.

and again...once u do all the registering of your car with dmv..the city of charlotte charges you a property tax for each vehicle you have..it is separate from all the fees you pay at dmv..and comes months later..please keep that in mind..not all states have a property tax on vehicles..i know the state of maryland did not..so that was new to me..
