The CIAA is live, but the parties were better when it was in Raleigh/Durham (larger HBCU presence). Although Charlotte's downtown provides easier access to amenities given the arena is located nearby.

However, the best African American event in the state of NC is NC A&T State University's homecoming week in Greensboro ("the greatest homecoming on earth").

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, the ATL ain't all that...but it is a happening place, let's keep everything in perspective. There are things/events for Black Folk to do on most weekends in Charlotte....much better than a lot of places.

Big Aristotle said it right. If you comparing Charlotte to its peer cities, it has a lot to offer. There's other upcoming events like For Sisters Only, Juneteenth, the Carribean Festival. And there's some big shows coming like Usher and Kem and Ledisi. Sade's coming later in the year. There's a ton of upcoming black plays. And Charlotte does have nice clubs that are nice every weekend, and even some spots like Dharma and Sulivan's that are really nice during the week. You'd be hard pressed to name a peer city with more to offer.

But uhhh....if you're one of these posters like mrdkb who insist on comparing Charlotte to cities three times its size, places like Atlanta or DC, then that's on ya'll. It is, what it is.

[quote=Scottclt;18154601]It is no big deal to me. In fact, it's an annoyance. I am much happier without hip-hop stars dominating every restaurant, bar, and club in town every night. quote]

This is the main reason I chose moving to Charlotte over Atlanta. I have a ton of family in both cities but Atlanta is toooo much for me. I've heard about regular admission prices to get into the clubs in the ATL and they can be quite ridiculous. And really, who cares about celebrities just being around; they don't pay my bills.

Sorry Carolina Blue. I could not help it. I will be good. BTW both Cities are fun for their size. To be honest Charlotte is a lot more fun then the average city for it's size.
