Is that the same as the one that's on Central?

Angry North Charlotte - Where is the good Mex food

Still looking for a place for great Mex food. Area ...University Area but we are in this area only a short while as we are looking for a home (most likely Huntersville).

We have not been real impressed with the Mex or Chinese food thus far. Help!

Yeah, it's certainly authentic...except check out the sanitation grade.

I have eaten in Mexico many times, out in the country on ranches...and Mexican food is very, very simple. Sometimes I think people think more Tex-Mex when they talk Mexican. Truly, Las Brizas in Cornelius is pretty authentic in my experience....

Well, check out the thread already in place about this subject.

Also, I am curious as to what people expect in regard to chinese and mexican food. I have eaten all over the US, and the chinese and mexican food here is not really that different from the cities I've visited everywhere (except maybe NYC and San Fran in regard to chinese).

Mexican food in MEXICO is very simple food and places like Las Brizas in Cornelius reflects that. People in America expect tex-mex when they refer to "mexican" food. I go to Cantina 1511 for that.

I can only speak for the LKN area but Zapata's and Las Brizas in Cornelius have been pretty good.

Asian food has been a complete crapshoot. I'm originally from Boston and am marrying a Vietnamese girl next month. Up there they have Chinatown and alot of asians. You would actually go to restaurants based on what dish you were eating because certain places made stuff the best and other dishes not as well. When we go back up there, Chinatown is the first place we go on the way back from the airport.

The best Chinese food we'd have so far is Lotus 28 (Cornelius exit 28) but I've heard House of Taipai in Huntersville is good too.

For Vietnamese - Pho Real in the University area, has good Pad Thai (go figure) and not so good Pho. Mai Cafe in Cornelius was probably a 7 of 10 across the board. My fiance has yet to find a place that doesn't make her long for the food back up north. Shes resorted to making her own Pho at this point.

For Sushi, Sushi on the lake (exit 28) was very good and Kobe (exit 28 behind Waltrips race shop) was terrible. Kabuto in Huntersville was good but I heard it closed down.

For Thai, we only tried Thai Marlai in Cornelius and it was pretty bad. I don't know what the reviewer in the Charlotte observer was smoking but it was the most americanized Thai food I ever had. I didn't even eat the leftovers.

In Matthews El Valle on John st, was recommended to me by a mexican, been there many a time.

As I now live by fort mill I now go to El Maguey in Fort Mill, and the food is excellent.
