Looking at a house in that area. Anyone have anything particularly good or bad to say about the neighborhood/area, or Pineville/Ballantyne in general? City-data.com shows Pineville as having very high crime, which surprised me.

Off of Lancaster Highway near Ballantyne Commons.

The neighborhood is on the desirable Ballantyne's border, so it's not a "bad" location at all, very convenient to many things.

There is a water treatment plant down the road, but I haven't heard a lot of complaints about it myself, though do look in to that.

Your realtor should be able to help you with those kinds of issues.

I have a friend who lives in Woodside Falls and has been there three years or so. It is a convenient location for Ballantyne, but obviously not in Ballantyne proper, and has good schools zoned for the neighborhood. The homes were generally built in the late 80s and early 90s- my friend's home was built in 1988. It is a pretty diverse neighborhood and much more middle class than the rest of Ballantyne, but they've never had a problem with crime or anything. The neighborhood does have a pool and my friends seem to have enjoyed their time there (although sadly they bought at the top of the market and the prices have dropped substantially in there, so if they sold anytime soon it would be at a pretty big loss).

JT I just crime mapped that neighborhood & while there have been a couple crimes within it, there's really not been anything to speak of. It seems like a good neighborhood in a good location to me.

Off of Lancaster Highway near Ballantyne Commons.
Also Pineville starts about 4 miles down hwy 51 on Lancaster Hwy. I think most of the Crime goes on in the old small town of Pineville itself and the apartments around it on Lancaster Hwy, those being Sabal Park, Meadow Ridge, The Pines..... . Once you start going south on Lancaster Hwy there's no more ghetto apartments and there's nice houses but a terrible smell from a Mulch/Cow Poop land/center thing. Half a mile past that you get to Ballantyne and it's really nice, safer, no poop smell, but you're going to pay for it$$$.
