Hello,
I'm putting some serious consideration into moving from the Tampa, FL. area to Charlotte. Any resident I.T. folks able to give me an idea what the job market in the Charlotte metro area is like? What is the average starting pay for sr. helpdesk or level 1 network admin positions? Lastly, is there a part of town with a high concentration of technology related companies? I know I'm asking allot here, any advice would be much appreciated.

Don't know what the situations are like for HD and net admin jobs, but the folks over at Sapphire can give you a better idea. They got me started in the I/T Security market here.

I suggest look at dice.com and monster.com and select Charlotte for your search. Most companies are around uptown and some of them are around university- research park area.

Excellent advice. I would add careerbuilder.com and Wachovia's internal staffing agency, FirstPlace: Wachovia Contract Employment

I would say for Sr. Help Desk to Network Admin expect $35,000 - $45,000 /yr depending on experience. I am a Help Desk Tech. here in Charlotte.

I'm also looking into moving to Charlotte, I just moved back to Ohio from Tampa to help out some family issues. I'm ready to move because I can't seem to find a decent paying IT job, I'm making half of what I did in Tampa.

I live in Charlotte and I am an Implementation Support Analyst. My salary is $75,000/ yr. I am not sure what our service desk folks make, but I would imagine in starts in upper 30's to $50,000 a year.
