How did you get a great rate by paying 2points?

That sounds absurd for that rate!

Thus, we can decide not to do business with people who employ or reach out to support illegals. Ask questions. Demand reform from our business leaders and politicians. That's what we can control.

Basically, do not do biz with people who you know are employing or supporting illegals, period. For me, that includes not banking with B of A.

BrianH, tried to give you some rep points on that one, but was prompted to "spread it around." :-)

I appreciate everyone sticking up for what the believe in, and one person can make a difference. I even saw an afterschool special on it. (or was that don't hold hands on the first date) anyway. Not everyone feels that the programs are bad. In fact, as in the national news, people differ on immigration itself. BofA and Wells made the headlines, but it would be nieve to think they are the only ones. I personally believe it is as big of an issue as offshoring. Think about it... our "good" jobs are going overseas, where we see non of the income spend here, our customer service goes down, but we save a nickel. I think it sucks and to be honest would like to tell companies, I won't use you because you offshore core responsabilties and customer service. Well, I would have a problems, cause everyone is doing it. This thread wasn't intended to be a rant on illegal immigration, card programs, etc. but an analysis on rates. I will continue to look at all factors when I am doing business and way them out, but in the end you still make the decision that is best for YOU and make YOU feel ok.

And again as far as the rates, I read a report that they may go down a bit this week still.

BOA represents all that is evil in our corporate, profit hungry world. The other banks are no better but BOA really sticks out in my opinion (and I have done a lot of business with them both internally and externally).

Anyone see the Creative Loafing front cover this week? A perfect picture of a blood hungry shark sitting at a BOA desk LOL

Whytewulf, I hear you. Except:
Shipping jobs overseas is not illegal.
Illegal immigration IS illegal and catering to lawbreakers is the same thing to me as giving pedophiles discounted computers with a home page set to Myspace.
It's called being an ENABLER.

And this thread is about rates, but is also about how B of A "rules."
We have seen that the rate is not necessarily great as OP thought, and I think that between that and the illegal immigration enabler mentality, many of us can conclude that B of A does anything but "rule."

We cut ties to BoA because of that deal. I could've cared less if we were the only ones that did, all I knew was that it made a statement and that's all I cared about.

But hey...you've got a few extra bucks in your pocket. Who needs taking a stand when you've got a few extra dollars to play with?
THANKS TO ALL for raining on my parade!! I made a comment about my deal with BofA and somehow it turned into an illegal immigrant debate. Yes I am happy with my extra bucks in my pocket and yes I do care about illegal immigration, but I will not change my own choices in life to fight a mega corporation. And yes I do buy items MADE IN CHINA and I do shop at Wal-mart as well. I am a terrible person.

All I know is America is full of "It's all about me, I am all that matters, what's in my wallet" mentality.

As lovesmountains said, no one is seeing the bigger picture.

Just an interest rate.

HGonzo, sorry we totally de-railed your thread. Personally I believe your rate is fine, because no one knows the complete picture anyway, and all we can do is provide suggestions.

kmway.. I appreciate your opinion as well, your right America appears to be self centered and in other areas I think we just need to agree to disagree and move on. As many of you probably have as well, I have worked for several multibillion dollar companies, can't think of a single one who didn't think about the best way to make their company the best, pay their board and Executives the most, then help shareholders, and then throw the scraps at the customer and employee. Again, I believe everyone should take a stand where they want to, but it would be hypocritical of us to say, why don’t you use someone else, when we support Citgo and Venezuelan profits, products from cheap labor, buy the oranges picked be immigrants, “evil” Wal-Mart, sexist Starbucks, dangerous Firestone … etc. It’s interesting and passionate topics to say the least, but I will refrain from “promoting” my point of view on it in this thread any more.

And off-shoring may not be illegal but it brings up similar pains. It is a hot political topic, it concerns our jobs, where money is spent, companies making a buck off cheap labor.

I don't think you're a terrible person. Congratulations on your loan approval and your new home. I remember how exciting it was for us. And we remain happy and I can only wish the best for you and your family.

Sincerely,

Sara

I still will never understand why we would all disagree that companies who enable LAW BREAKERS...yes, they are breaking the freaking law, people...do not deserve our business and we should be outraged.

But whatever floats y'all's boats.

It's called passiveness, and as long as it doesn't directly affect #1, it doesn't matter. But that's the problem most don't realize it does affect #1 and will dramatically if this freight train isn't stopped.

We are being thrust towards socialism more and more everyday. The feds have a tunnel vision towards controlling everything, including our healthcare and wallets (who needs private healthcare when everyone can have the same, crappy socialized medicine?).

The welfare system (healthcare, schools, food stamps, etc) will increase exponentially when amnesty passes and thus our economy will crash faster than you can say taco. Our sovereignty as a nation will go through the drain with it.
