PROBLEM: NEW Job, Need Apartment, Problem Credit History...HELP (Charlotte: apartment complexes, to rent)

What do I do?

I'm coming down from New Jersey. Job starts April 15th, but I have a problem Credit History that I've started to clean up a few months ago
I can't land an apartment...been rejected about 3 times

Job will be over on White Hall Park Drive 28273 area....

Anyone have any suggestions? Help!

Rent a room in someone's home, or find an owner of a condo or house willing to talk with you and consider your situation. Perhaps with a larger than normal deposit you can convince someone to take a chance on you!

Try checking Craigs List for both these options.

Try searching on: Socialserve.com - Find Affordable Housing

Go to the advanced tab and opt out of credit check search. This should give you a list of owners or properties that will take you.

Some complexes will take you, but it may take longer. Let them know up front. Do you have an offer letter with salary. This may help as well. Good luck!

Look for apartment complexes that do the sur-deposit or sure-depoist dont know how it is spelled. They usually have a lower credit criteria.

Congrats on your new job and best luck. Happy to hear that employers are offering jobs to out of staters. It gives my husband and hope. (We've been trying to move to NC for 3 yrs). What kind of work do you do. As far as an apartment, it is a good idea to rent a condo or townhouse from an owner. The complexes will also work w/you, you just may have to pay more for security.

As a landlord, I can tell you that if the rest of the story is good, and you can back that up with several months security deposit, you should be fine. Talk to a property management company like Henderson Properties and ask them for suggestions, too.
