Having moved here from South Florida, I am missing Cuban food. I know the market here for that isn't the same as South Florida, but are there any Cuban restaurants (even if they are fast food) in the area?

I can vouch for the flying scotsman that Carlos Cafe is decent. Owners are legitimatly from Cuba. However, knowing you come from South FL, you may not think its the greatest. But as far as what we have going in Charlotte--its good.

La Gran Havana on Arbermarle Road in Charlotte and is mediocre at best, and they seem to change their name every few months. It was also known as Taste of Havana for awhile...

But basically, we're sorely lacking in Cuban food in Charlotte!

Don't know about the food, but check it out for dancing!

Havana Social Club - Ballroom Dancing - Home

This is in the shopping center behind Birkdale Village (Lowe's, Gallway Hooker, Old Movie Theatre) off of Catawba Avenue. We've walked by a few times and people look like they're having a blast.

803-329-7171 for Carlo's cafe. We used to eat there practically every Friday night when we lived in Charlotte. Carlos and Zaida sold the place though and I don't think it's quite the same now but try it anyway. Don't even bother with Gran Havana, from one Cuban to another, you will be hugely disappointed.

I am heading back to FL to visit in a few days. The only thing I miss there other than my family and friends is the Cuban food (and I am not Cuban).

They are closed Sunday and Mondays, no traffic in the mall on a sunday, it was not worth opening
