Which would you say is better around Charlotte. I have had Time Warner and I am just looking at options.

Switched from TWC to UVerse 2yrs ago and haven't had a single issue.
Since packages and pricing are different, you'll just have to make the decision yourself as to what's important to you.

I've never had U-Verse but I do have a horror story of what happened when we bundled mobile and internet with AT&T. Our first bill after "bundling" was $648 (our cell bills were typically $150 and internet was just $38). So naturally, I assumed we wouldn't get a bill for a month or so. Well we received a $250 bill the next month. And the same the next month. I had about 60 hours on the phone because we were billed several hundred dollars too much. Cellular said "yes, you should have about a $350 refund". Internet said, "yes you have been billed way too much". Bundled billing said, "no, it's correct that is what you owe, we don't make mistakes". I had already canceled the bundle billing but they still had the balance and canceled the internet. I was given a bit of a break by mobile so I still use AT&T cellular. I now have Road Runner. I wouldn't trust having the services bundled at all.

I am not bundling wireless with it. I had Time Warner and it was hell! Banding in the picture, sound/video sync issues, 3 bad boxes albeit the 8300hdc, and a lot of skips and macro blocking. I am going to try uverse but since there is no contract if it is that bad I will be right back to TWC

If you didn't read that link that I posted you should. I know it's long. Ani was assured that there was no contract, but there is. They lied to her.

I will be the contrarian who is very pleased with U-Verse.
My tier is sold as 24 Mbps down and 3 Mbps up, I can routinely get 22/2.8 which am very pleased with compared to my years with TWC.
I will consider using smoke signals before going back to Time Warner: wildly inconsistent bandwidth, sub-par HD picture quality (even with 3 house amps), and the worst cable boxes in the business.

Know that U-Verse, like DSL, is VERY location dependent - it is all about your run (copper/fiber, length) to the DSLAM.

We all hate the thought of it, but metered bandwidth is coming, Comcast has already hinted about it, and AT&T most recently in the article linked above.
Shortly TWC will announce it as well, I guarantee it.
With all the cheap/free online content, it is trending that people want unlimited fast bandwidth so they can 'cut cable', but no provider can make money doing that at the current models.
They make money piping 400 channels of crap to your home and also offering you internet.
