I was wondering if anyone who used to live in Phoenix,AZ and now lives in Charlotte could compare both cities. Phoenix is obviously bigger. Is Charlotte just a smaller version? How are they alike and different? I look forward to the replies.

As a born and bred native Charlottean....who's waiting to relocate to Phoenix...(house needs to sell) I think that Phoenix offers many more cultural things to do than Charlotte. The salaries of both cities are similar too and coupled with the cheap real estate prices Im trying to project positive thoughts..... I mean whats not to love about Phoenix....aside from the heat Great weather/300+day of sunshine/palmtrees/proxmity to other major cities like Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas..... Shopping is definitely better in Phoenix than Charlotte. Personally speaking, as a single person, Phoenix is better for singles than Charlotte.....As a joke, I always say that if you are in to driving little Mary and Johnny to soccer practice everyday and mallhopping on Saturdays...then Charlotte is for you...

In the late 1980s-early 1990s I lived in SoCal but went to Phoenix monthly to visit family. In my opinion, Charlotte today has a lot in common with Phoenix back then. Haven't been back to Phoenix recently but they have experienced astronomical growth in the '90s and '00s so its probably changed quite a bit. Phoenix today is probably closer to being on the level of Atlanta. That said, I wouldn't want to live in Phoenix today. Their population is unsustainable and water shortages are looming. I also prefer the greenery of North Carolina over the desert of Arizona.

My only comment is that I have met several people from Phoenix living in Charlotte and they are glad to be here for a variety of reasons.

hahaha - great question, and no I don't believe they have.

As someone who has spent time in both cities Charlotte wins hands down. Not to mention, the housing meltdown in Phoenix was one of the most brual in the country. I think it's the 6th worst housing market currently.

"Clear Capital reports that the Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale area saw home prices fall 8 percent in 2010, and prices are projected to fall another 9.4 percent in 2011"
