I drove from West Palm Beach to Charlotte about 6x in 3 years. I drove 95 to 26 to 85. 780miles took me 8-10 hrs dependin on when I drove, who was with me and what car I was driving.
Oops ment to say 77 not 85... When I drive there now from Chattanooga I travel up 85. Sorry bout that.
I just did my moving drive, turnpike to I-95 crossings, to I-26 to I-77. 730 miles, 10 hours, only stoping for gus in JAX and Savanna. The worst places to put gas is in FL, specially the crossing of I-95 and the turnpike and in the middle of no where in SC.
From Sheridan Street/I-95 to Mooresville, NC (exit 36 on I-77) it takes me 9.5hrs. 80-85mph the entire way, usually the latter... rarely stop only for gas. Much better flying tho! 1hr45min

Flying is the best of course. Jetblue is starting flights from CLT to FLL next year. Roundtrip is around $200. JB is trying the route to see if it becomes profitable. If you are flying down to So.Fl or up to CLT, use JB, another airline making that route will lower fares on AA and USAirways.

WOOHOOO!! I was hoping they'd start flying there! I usually pay $230 roundtrip with USAir, nonstop.
Thanks for the headsup on JetBlue, thats awesome!!
As of right now USAir is the only direct flight that I know of, everyone else stops in ATL.

Yes, Jetblue will start their flights in January of next year, only for 5 months. If they see that the route makes them money, then it might be year around. The flight is daily, in the morning, $99 each way.
Best way is turnpike to the crossings (advoid WPB on I-95) onto I-95, then I-26 then I-77
Flyingscotsman advise is the best! I drove from Charlotte to Orlando and back this time last year and it was by for the shortest most convenient route.
