I am looking to buy some furniture and don't know where to start. Can someone please recommend me some place? Today I went to Mecklenburg Furniture they are having going out of business sale and everything was deeply discounted. But still I found them quite expensive. Please help to advice me where I should look

Do they have Ikeas down there? Pretty crazy inexpensive stuff there.

"Going out of business sales" are rarely that... one other note, liquidation sales of this type typically have a large markup, then they apply a % sale to items. Very often these sale items are more expensive than they were a week ago before the sale. The only one I can personally think of that I believe is all over would be Ashley Furniture stores. Here's a link to find your nearest location (look at their stuff online also) Where To Shop

Good luck!

It's no wonder there are laws about how many "going out of business" sales you can have in a period of time, and how long they can last for.

I'm on the other side of the coast...but when I am looking for something like that I search for as many stores that have inventory listed online. I then pick a few very basic items that should be consistent for any store. That may give you a good idea of how they price their inventory compared to the competition...

Funny, it does seem like the aforementioned furniture store has been going out of business for over a year now

Have you tried Hickory N.C.? They are known for their furniture. I work at Clayton Marcus owned by Lazy boy. There is a furniture mall in Hickory and many discount stores and on Hwy. 321 there is all kind of oak and leather outlets.

Amazing !!! They were willing to negotiate endlessly and prices were over the roof. I can't imagine buying a desk for 2500$s after 60% discount

We like Value City Furniture. There's one off South Blvd almost in Pineville.

Ok seriously, do a search above. There are a ton of threads about this subject with directions, etc. The discount stores like Rooms to Go, VC, etc are OK for dining tables, etc but the upholstered furniture is garbage. Check out the existing threads, they are rich with information.

Ikea is coming in the distant future.

Ashley furniture, Rooms to Go, and Value City are some of the more popular companies.

Interesting thread, especially since so MANY furniture manufacturers used to be located in North Carolina. Now they are shutting down and shipping the machinery to China.
