My Mom was a substitute teacher back in the days when the schools were still segregated by race. She would teach sometimes at the Black schools and I remember her saying that when the kids acted up there , (only the boys then) they got sent to the principal's office where they would be lined up and a vice principal would take a leather strap to them. Bingo, no discipline problems at all. She preferred to teach at these schools back then because she said the kids were much better behaved.

Meh, I took many a paddlin' in school and it only made me more stubborn. Granted it wasn't a leather strap but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't work on me either.

By no means am I a dirty hippie who advocates sharing feelings, timeouts, etc. but corporal punishment is not always the solution for everything.

Any adult that thinks it is appropriate to stand around laughing and smiling while to teenage girls fight... rather while ONE teenage girl is beaten by another is an ill suited for a job around people.

The fact that folks think the guy did nothing wrongs speaks volumes about why youth are so valueless. This was nothing to smile and laugh about

Youth...valueless? Are you kidding me? They run things these days because there is so much fear of having DSS involved, lawsuits, parents wanting to be their child's friend and the inability to accept responsibility.

Yes, I am serious. An adult that could watch that and laugh is lacking values. It is appalling, not funny. Fruit falls from trees. This didn't appear out of fairy dust.

I don't deny that laughing was wrong, but that was ONE incident. To say that it speaks volumes about why youth are seen as valueless is a pretty broad statement and one I disagree with.

The girl attacked the other girl because she knew there would be no consequences. The fact that she got so winded so quickly suggests that she thinks there are no consequences to obesity and lack of exercise. All in all, depressing. And the teacher should be mortified. I believe he looks like teacher who "used" to teach at our middle school. I'm almost positive it's him. And I'm not surprised.
