Roaming Fork has been at the new Elizabeth Avenue Farmer's Market - their fried egg & tomato sandwich is *excellent*.

pic of their Jerk Chicken w/Peas and a beef pie.

Pros:

Decent flavor
Crust on the pie was really good

Cons:

I thought it was overpriced for around 9 bucks total (specifically the JC was a little too much)
I really didn't expect that much sauce
I guess technically it did have peas. 3 of them to be exact.
Flavor was decent as said above but I like jerk chicken spicier. That may be a personal thing though.
Beef in the beef pie was almost like a paste. Maybe it is supposed to be like that. Tasted good but the texture was unappealing. This part of the meal was only 2.50 so I think it was an OK price.

I also think that their hot dog is overpriced at $5. Especially since it doesn't come with fries or anything (at least the menu didn't say so). I didn't actually see what the dog looked like but IMO anything less than a sausage shouldn't be 5 bucks on its own.

Remember that the price includes the sales tax...

The Roaming Fork has been in Ballantyne every Thursday from 11-2 or so at the Brixham tent for a couple of months now. I have put a Calendar entry into Outlook so I have the time open to leave the office and eat out there each week. Their fried deviled eggs are good. My favorite has to be their grilled cheese with pulled pork. Their slaw is AMA-zing!

Ballantyne Corporate Park management has held off on allowing other food trucks for the time being, until they see how the Roaming Fork pans out. They draw a good crowd these days though. I'd love it if Herban Legend could find a south Charlotte location too.

I'm also hoping that we start to see more ethnic food trucks coming out and playing - not necessarily Mexican, although that's always good. But Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, etc. We have a lot of "farm to fork" stuff going right now with Harvest Moon, Herban Legend and Roaming Fork, but would like some edgier ethnic food too.

One thing's for sure, reading back on this thread which started in April, it seems like the chances of getting food trucks in Charlotte for good has definitely changed. Chow Down Uptown showed what a success it can be, which makes me excited. For some reason I love the idea of mobile eateries around the area...

Taqueria Medina Truck or The Medina Taco Truck near the corner of Eastway and N. Tryon has great tacos! Great prices too.

I hope we see an asian food truck soon. Preferably one with Vietnamese and Korean cuisine!

Has someone been watching the Great Food Truck race? (Nom Nom & Korilla BBQ?) I'd LOVE to see either of those two types of trucks come to town!

Love that show even though it is fake as hell (typical reality). I just like to see the different types of food trucks. I accurately predicted the first truck to fall this season.
