Watch Out! (Davidson: neighborhood, suburban, backyard)

It's that time of year and it seems like there are more deer than ever on the roads so far.

For the benefit of the newcomers to town, the deer go nuts during rutting season between now and January and they think nothing of running into traffic in places where you would never expect them.

Besides the close encounters I've had in the past two weeks, I can judge by the bloody patches on I-485 that it's been very active.

Very good warning and advice!!!

Most folks do not realize how many suburban deer we have in this region! They are all over my neighborhood. I typically see 5-7 deer in my backyard in early morning and/or early evening. They are hungry, they get frisky this time of year, and they can run into a street/highway, causing accidents wh/ are major and even fatal, for both the deer and the driver.

PS. I would add . . . I would have doubtless had several major accidents if I had not been able to 1. swerve into oncoming traffic lanes (and no one there!) and 2. no one following closely behind me when I had to slam on brakes and 3. no signs to run into when I have had to run off the road past the shoulder to avoid deer.

SO it is not just a matter of paying attention to deer crossing in front of you - the fellow in front of you may be the one slamming on brakes or swerving. Use extra caution!!!

Deer are natures way of getting a new paint job

It like the other week I was in Davidson County and was leaving at dusk I had option taking I40 or I85 and I chooe I85 due to probability less likely to hit a deer.
I havent had a deer burger in a long time.
