Some very good talent played in Charlotte this season. I understand they are sending Bowman back down for the playoffs.

For those of you that have gone to a Checkers game in the past, but not this year - night and day difference. The Checkers of the past had very few guys that would ever have the talent to play NHL. With this year's team it is an expectation. Best spent sports dollar in town!

The Checkers of the past were an ECHL team, one step below the current AHL level. Yes, the level of play is much better.

We have season tix and they have been well worth it this year - although I wish the beer prices were in line with ticket prices

Also - as a side note, they guy who has filled Chubby's skates for the past 13 years is retiring at the end of the season.

To echo Tober's comments I went to some games during the ECHL days. Now I liked the ECHL Checkers too but the AHL is a much better level of play. It's a faster game, there isn't a fight every minute, and there are less ads on the ice than before. The team has actually gained more of a fanbase just this year than the previous years. They broke attendance records twice this season. Even the players like it here.

The team just recently bought a home for one of their biggest fans that lived in Albany. Nice story. Charlotte, North Carolina, Checkers, Carolina Hurricanes Farm Team, Purchase Home for Zach Bennett, 11

The Checkers seems like only team in Charlotte that consistently makes the playoffs. Go Checkers!

update, Checkers won their game tonight and have tied the series 2-2.

Since the AHL goes by the 2-3-2 format, game 5 will be on friday night in Charlotte. Get yourself and others down to the Cable Box for friday night!

Agreed! These last two games have been intense to watch and the fans who have come have been LOUD. We need to get a big crowd there to help send them off to Hershey in the series lead. 7 PM Friday night.

On a side note - its a little rough being a Caps fan and also rooting against Hershey - a lot of my friends back home are a little displeased with me over that detail

Just a follow-up....anyone who didn't come out last night missed some awesome hockey. After being down 3-0, the Checkers came back to win 5-3. I have never heard the crowd for a Checkers game in that arena be so ear-splittingly loud as they were in the last half of the third period.
