Default For those of you who have relocated with teenagers....

How are they making out? I know I have asked this question in the past, but hopefully the time to really make the move is approaching and I was wondering if anyone could let me know how their teenagers have adjusted. I have a 14 y/o entering 10th grade and I am trying to make it down there b4 the school year begins but it looks like it might be mid september early october. We are coming from NY -- Long Island.

Thanks to all that respond.

we moved about a year ago, we did a fast move to Nc so my 16 year old could start the school year , with all the other kids,, i'm not going to sugar coat it , it was hard, on him and us
he had lived in Ca all his life , had the same friends for 8 years, but after he made friends the move got easy, he now says after the crying stage and yelling stage,
he likes it here , and doesnt plan on moving back to Ca and live with relatives the key is keep your child busy in activities,

We just moved here about a month ago our daughter turns 14 in Sept. so we made the move right when she has to start HS. This was the best for us because in NY everyone scatters to many different High Schools so she would not have really been with any of her friends. She did drag her feet and complain the first week or so, saying we took her away from her friends. Lucky for us the girl across the street is 14 and super nice so the storm has passed. She is looking forward to school and joining the Volley Ball team. I think it is how the move goes and if they can make friends right away. Then again she could be just as happy being on line for hours designing web pages and stuff like that. I gave up trying to figure out teens!! Good Luck. I hope your teen does well here, it really is beautiful!!

My son (15) couldn't wait to move! He had been with the same kids in a small school since they were 3 yrs old & was ready for the change. This month marks a year that we're here & he can't wait to get back to HS for his sophmore year. He's made many friends down here, has done very well with the transition, gotten good grades & is quite happy here.

What school will your 14 yr old be going to. What part of NY did you come from? (We came from Putnam County)

We are coming from Long Island -- I don't know exactly what school my son will be in, I am trying to move to Highland Creek, we are still trying to get our house sold so that is slowing the process and I am still praying that I will get down before I have to wait it out another school year.
