what is the total tax amount (percentage wise) when you live in SC but work in NC?

we are looking to live in Fort Mill or Rock Hill and will most likely work in NC...

what is the total amount taken out of your check and do you pay state taxes out of your check or pay when you file your taxes

thank you in advance

I can't remember what the exact percentage is, but is relatively low. I usually receive about $100 back from NC. You do pay them out of each check and you will have to file in both states, but it's just for records sake in SC.

It depends on your exemptions...you won't get taxed from both states; only the one you work in. Charlotte does not have an income tax nor do most NC cities (yet) so it is more like:

NC
SS
Fed.
Medicare

Default Live in NC, work in SC

I would like to ask you guys what would be the advanages of living in Fort Mill por Rock Hill? How far is it from Charlotte downtown?

My case seems to be the opposite, the company I am going to be working for is going to be located in Fort Mill, but I am considering living in Charlotte.

What would the income tax consideration? Would I be double tax in some way?

Thanks

I'm sorry I'm confused. If the company is in Fort Mill (maybe wells fargo??) why would you want to live in Charlotte??? DO you have children? If so you'll want the Fort Mill school district over CMS? There are many more advantages to living in Fort Mill then Charlotte especially if your job is right there, safe gas money and move close by. Fort Mill is beautiful and has much lower crime then Charlotte.
