I have a question about accounting firms. Does anyone know of any firms out there looking to hire an entry level employee? I feel I have applied everywhere but its possible I am missing a firm or two or ten lol.

Where (area wise) are you primarily looking for a job?

Have you looked into larger companies that have accounting departments? Might be a way to get into the accounting field outside of just an accounting firm.

It is a little unclear what exactly you are looking for. Do you have an undergrad degree in Accounting? MA in Accounting? What kind of accounting? Tax, Corporate, SALT, Fed Tax, Business Management, Audit, Consulting, or what?????

Ok, I do see your earlier post stating you don't have experience or a degree in the field but you have been looking for 2 years????

What is keeping you from finishing those 4 classes to finish your MA? What kind of accounting will your degree be in?

I can tell you that where my DH works, they will not look at you until you get that degree under your belt.

Here is my problem. Undergrad Degree is in Criminal Justice. Masters will be finished come September in Accounting. That is why nobody wants to bring me on. No experience, no degree means no job typically no matter how close I am. Nothing is keeping me from finishing those classes I am enrolled now. I would love to do something in Auditing but I will take any job in the Accounting field for the time being, I hope this helps. Two years of being told no experience, no degree is really getting to me even though I do know my degree is on the horizon. And yes I just now qualified to start sitting for my CPA so I will be doing that now.

When the degree is on the resume, you will be much more appealing. It's tough right now b/c you have CPA's, MBA's with 5-10 years experience hunting for those same jobs. If I were you, I would keep searching, but be prepared to wait it out. Good luck!!

Well, think of it this way, the degree is the final hoop to jump through.

It may be frustrating, that that is the way it works.

My job could not be done without an MA (although I am not currently working) and noone would hire me or even look at me without the minimum requirements.

My DH has a degree in something other than Accounting. He is an accountant now but had to go back to get the MA in that particular field before they would even look at him. It is a minimum requirement.

DH's firm doesn't care nearly as much about the CPA as they do the degree and experience. DH did a two year internship first, a paid internship, but still not a full fledged accountant.

Lower your standards and look for something at a small to mid size firm...

You aren't getting into a Big Six at the moment...
