Hi,

I would love to live in Matthews, but would also prefer to live in Union County- looking for 2500 sq feet give or take, under $300k, and in a neighborhood with mature landscaping. The neighborhood should have at least one pool...

Any suggestions? Looking for something within a 30-35 minute commute, during rush-hour, to uptown (W. Morehead, on the south side of the city). Also willing to consider Stallings or Indian Trail, although I haven't visited either of those towns.

Thanks for your feedback!

Stallings and Indian Trail are going to be pushing that commute time.

Try and stay on the very edge of Union, the VERY edge. Right around the Rea Rd. area will work.

There are currently a few options in the popular neighborhood of Somerset that fit your criteria.

Matthews is in Mecklenburg county, not Union county, just so you know

There has been confusion over this due to which post office particular neighborhoods get their mail from. You can live in certain parts of Stallings for instance, which is in Union county, but your mail may be coming from the closest post office which is in Matthews so your address will read Matthews, but this doesn't mean you live in Matthews.

A 30 minute commute to uptown from most places in Union county will be pretty impossible in rush hour. I suggest you look in parts of Matthews that are nearest to Hwy 51 to get within 35 minutes.

I think Callonwood meets your needs. Orleans and MI are the builders. We looked at homes there and we were told we could take advantage of what Matthews had to offer (ei.Little League) I didnt care for the power lines on the Orleans side or the size of this community, but of course thats my problem. The prices vary, certainly worth a look.

Crismark & Fairhaven are in Indian Trail but just over the border. I think they would be good options. Moderator cut: advertising

Olde Sycamore is a great area that rides the union county line in Mint Hill. Great homes and it is a golf course community.

I would look into Madison Ridge off of Stallings Road. We just moved here two months ago. It has a Matthews mailing address, but we pay taxes in Union County and Stallings. But, Matthews police patrol the area. There are some houses in here for sale now, right around 250,000. Hope that helps!
