Hospitals dont use LPNs.
Clinics are either CMC or Presby, and would pay about $15-$17/hr
Home Care pays $17-20/hr
Nursing homes $18-22/hr
Agencies $20/hr for staffing, $24/hr for school cases

My wife is a LPN and this list is fairly accurate. I'd also add methadone treatment centers ($17-21/hr) and drug rehab nurses at the jail ($17-19/hr) to the list. FWIW, my wife earned $54K last year and has 5 years experience as a LPN. This income was the combination of a full time job (12 months) and a part time job for 6 months out of the year. Without the help of the part time job, my wife would have earned close to $45K.

It is kinda weird, but there are experienced LPNs earning more than some new RNs (and the RN is "the boss"). Still though, I know of ICU nurses (RNs with 4 years of college at least) at Presby that are earning $45/hr (similar pay can be found at CMC too). I believe that this profession is a "calling" and you shouldn't do it just for the money. However, earning $500/day is MUCH nicer than earning $200/day if you have the time and money for the extra schooling. Just something to think about...
