I too was in Chicago when the 17 year ones invaded it. LOL I was in a suburb area with thousands of mature trees so I guess that is why there were so many. It was like the plague of bugs everywhere.

I was terrified of them!

Are they going to be that invasive this time? Or will it be a few here and there etc?

@momtothree, they are going to be everywhere in swarms. I did alot of research after a mommy friend told me about this. I'm so grossed out. I hate all bugs, im just terrified of them. I will be parkngn in the garage and will not be seeing the daylight for a while. ugh!! Crap, just remembered the horses. Guess i will be. omg... anyone want a part time job to take care of the horses until these things are gone?!!?!??!?!

I dont know why posters said they afraid they are as harmless as a grass hopper you can hold them too.

Harmless..but still yucky!...I don't like grasshoppers either...I don't know how people catch them...ugh..im getting itchy!!

Sunny, all bugs ick me out. Grasshoppers, those big harmless bumble bees, spiders, yuck!!! And swarms of cicadas?! Lord help me.
