Does anyone know if there are any independent film theaters in the Charlotte area for foreign, indpendent, and artsy films? Please let me know. Thanks.

Yes, there is one that is about 6 months old in Ballantyne in South Charlotte. It's called the Ballantyne Village Theater. Its pretty spectacular and huge. You can google it to get the exact location.

There's also the Regal Manor Theater on Providence Road heading toward uptown that is tiny--just two movies at any given time--but in that old fashined 1920's style with the great red velvet drapes.

LisaF - You're a gem, thanks for the great information. I will be definitely checking out both locations when I get down there later this month.

BV is actually a little older (about a year or so) and has 5 screens. They sometimes show mainstream films and have a retro series each season.

I just located the BV Theater on the internet and visited their site and I must say it's an amazing theater. I am loving the retro series. Coming from Chicago, we do not have anything quite like this in the city, but do in Highland Park, but this theater wins hands-down. Miss Charlotte is doing its thing down there. I think so many folks are going to be surprised with what this city has to offer. I know I am and can't wait to visit and buy a home down there. Again, thanks for the information. If my house was sold I would be there in a minute.

Isn't the Biograph still in operation?

I believe the Biograph is still in operation, but it's not stadium seating like Ballantyine Village Theater. This is much nicer and I like the fact that they have themes at this theater, such as the retro. I think they big AMCs should do something similar. I would love to see ET on the big screen.

Are you originally from Chicago?
