Maybe this?

A day-long music festival is causing traffic delays around the Metrolina Expo on Statesville Road in northern Charlotte.

The Carolina Rebellion, a sold-out show featuring nearly 20 rock bands, began around 11 a.m. and will end just before midnight.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said traffic is "extremely heavy" around the Metrolina Expo, including along Sunset Road and Interstate 77.

It's because guys driving through there are gawking at the girls sunbathing on the boats at the I-77 causeway. It doesn't take much to backup the traffic there these days.

Early on Saturday morning was a sprint marathon centered on Jetton Park, with the cycling portion of the event on local roads.

About the time the running / swimming / cycling event was wrapping up, the Asian Festival and Dragon boat races were starting up on Lake Norman.

The sunbathing gawkers are an everyday event when it's sunny and warm.

Lake Norman on I-77 (exit 30) is about 17 miles north of the Metro center where the concerts took place. However, the traffic problems on the lake are another issue. About three years ago, the police cracked down on girls/women showing their boobies to traffic on I-77. Now there are only the occasional flashers.

Sometimes there's no real apparent reason. Just heavy traffic.
