im not providing excuse, im stating reasons as to why its so high. if buses ran 24/7 there would be less people driving drunk.
Designated driving situations DO work. If someone can't resist drinking then they have a problem. Seriously. We don't need alcohol to survive. If someone can't resist having a drink before hitting the road then they shouldn't have the privilege to drive.

Cabs cost to much for "average folks"? How much do court fines, legal fees, drunk driving school, bail, and reinstatement fees cost for average folks?

How much does a life cost an average folk?

Life isn't about hanging around in bars. There's more to it than that. Much more important things. So, for those who subscribe to the "it's no big deal" theory about drinking and driving, you deserve to get your body wrapped around a tree (b/c you're probably too cool not to wear a seat belt, right?)

CATS should really consider running buses until 2:30am on Friday and Saturday nights. It would be worth it to take the bus uptown to party and then take it back without having to worry about how much Ive had to drink, who will be DD, or where I will be staying the night.

CATS loses money on every passenger it picks up and especially if the vehicle isn't full, so they aren't going to be running buses in the middle of the night. However they do run a lot of routes to 1am. I'm thinking that if you haven't found what you are looking for by then, you might as well go home anyway because what's left isn't worth it. Finish up your boozing in front of the TV. You won't know the difference anyway.

Charlotte Judges and law enforcement have been hammered by residents and the press the last few years for how lenient they've been with handling DUI cases. In the past (5 years+), blowing slightly over a .08 wouldn't have gotten you arrested and chances of being pulled over outside the downtown area at DUI checkpoints were very low.

Changed a lot over the recent years and I believe its definitely for the good.

More people die in NC from drunk drivers than are murdered. So, police are addressing a serious crime, period.
