Cut Irish Spring soap into 8 cubes and stick them on skewers and place them in your plants at the approximate height of the flowers. The deer hate the odor. When the deer lower their heads to take a bite, they jerk their heads back and retreat. It has worked very well for me in NY.

Oh deer. I forgot about this post. I switched to vincas this year and the deer cannot stand them. They also require a lot less water than impatiens. Deer are everywhere down in this part of the city. In the woods behind Old Providence Swim and Raquet on Sharon View, I've seen as many as 20, young and old, big and small.

Yep and hunting season in a long way off. Not that you could hunt in the city, Best is just shew them away and hope they eat your neighbors garden first, Maybe a sound effects recording of a bobcat screaming would scare them away.Have it programed to give out several loud screams every 5 minutes..Those deers would be hot footin away for sure.

I have Rabbits eating mine. They come during the day and tear them up. I put a couple moth balls around them Sunday and they have left them alone. I have them in planters so I only put one moth ball in each planter. I have not notice the odor with just one so not that bad.
