We moved to NC from Texas to Mooresville in 2008 into a townhouse, site unseen. After dealing with 150 crossing I-77 taking 30 minutes in non rush hour traffic we decided to find a better way. We chose S. Denver to relocate to and have been here almost a year. We couldn't be happier. I understand why they say it is the "better" side of the lake. Business 16 can be a bit crowded around rush hour but it is nothing like 150. We love the produce stores, the farmers market and the people couldn't be friendlier. The fuel is cheaper here than anywhere north of SC and it is much easier to get to Charlotte down the new 16. I-77 is a pain similar to a stretch of I-10 in Houston that was avoided at all costs. There are actually 4 seasons here like there used to be in S Texas in the 70's. I love cool mornings and that is something that went away in S. TX awhile ago. I don't know what to think about global warming but something has changed down there. I didn't like the heat punching you in the face leaving for work at 7AM when you walked out of the house anymore. Thanks NC for the warm welcome and hospitality!

Glad you are enjoying it here. I have been looking at outlying areas to move to after living in town for almost six years now. I occasionally drive through Denver on my way to Hickory for work and I like the area. I'm glad they are extending the hwy 16 farther out. Congrats on the new move.
