Does anyone know of a person or place that offers haircuts at a person's home? My dad is closing in on his 91st birthday and he has a lot of trouble getting around these days. He needs a haircut pretty badly but doesn't want to go to a salon or barbershop. It would be great if there were someone that could come to the house to give him a trim once a month but I haven't been able to find a service like that yet. Any help would be appreciated. We are in Matthews over near Stallings.

+1 on that request, if anyone knows of someone who would cut a woman's hair as well.

Have you asked their usual stylists? Maybe they'd be willing to make a house visit.

I know of some stylists who go to homes, I posted the link to this question on another board I frequent, hopefully someone will be interested and will reply.

@SuperK, she's down in Union County, in the Weddington/Marvin area. A lot of stylists in established shops don't want to solicit 'outside' business due to conflict of interest and/or insurance issues.

Thanks @joanchris2000. @superk, I have found the same thing as Ex-LI when it comes to the stylists in the shops we normally go to. Hopefully we'll find someone soon. I cut it myself the last time a few weeks ago and let's just say it's a lot harder than it looks! ;-)

Might want to ask the person who cut their hair before. They might be willing and they would feel more at easy with someone they know. You could ask some of the local nursing homes. See if they can suggest someone.

That's sort of where I was going. My ex-wife in the Assisted Living has both her previous hairdresser and nail technician visit her in her room, and they do everything right there. There are other hairdressers in there as well with their clients, so there are some who will do it.

If my father was still alive, he would be 92. He wanted nothing to do with a female doing anything with his hair. There is a male stylist at the Ulta at University City. I ddon't know if he would do it, but you might want to call & ask. If he would not do it, he might know of a male who would.

I don't know his name, but I think that he's the only male there.
