Great news! After 2 months of house hunting in just about every area of the lake, we finally found a home we loved in "The Point." We are simple people from Pittsburgh who like to be relaxed and keep things low-key. Hopefully we will have some great neighbors.

Scheduled to close last week of July. We have 3 boys...14, 9, 8 and are looking forward to meeting some other great families in the area. I love to play tennis and golf (although I just recently started playing) and my wife loves to cook and is an artist/poet/lover of the fine arts. We are thinking about joining a dinner club to get involved when we arrive so for those of you who know the area, any advice would be appreciated.

We are excited to move and can't wait to get there. Thanks to everyone in the forum for all your great advice during our home search.

I think it is great that someone has found a place they are happy with. I think you need to get a grip and stop trying to stir up trouble where there isn't any. Just because you are miserable doesn't mean that others are not. Please don't ruin someone else's happy occasion with whatever is your agenda.

I am happy for the OP, congrats.....

Oh man, wait! I forgot this is Lake Norman - your pet area... silly me thinking that you were an equal opportunity RE is overpriced and going to crash person. Related to prices your quote was "It's Breathtaking!" and the further crash is going to be epic... (<small print> unless you buy close to where I bought, then it's OK and I'm happy</small print>). lol

You should probably point out where I've ever said or insinuated that I'm miserable in Union County... very far from it. You're the one who says I'm supposed to be miserable about it with your post after post bashing it - that's not the same thing. In fact, as you know - I've lived in Mooresville and down here. I know the difference.

My apologies to the OP as I know The Point very well... You should be very happy there. Best of luck to you.

Congratulations!
We are moving to Cornelius this summer as well. I have been attempting to get a little feedback about Bailey middle, other than the parent reviews on great schools. Assuming you are zoned to bailey, were you by any chance able to get a feel for the school? Unfortunately, I was unable to tour the school.

Just a quick FYI... The OP's kids would be going to the Iredell Statesville schools (for public schools) where as Cornelius and Bailey school is part of the Charlotte-Meck school system.

Start a new thread about Bailey and I'm sure some other C-D'ers can tell you alot about the school. But welcome to the area!!!

Thanks everyone for the encouraging words. We are excited to move from Pittsburgh and it will be nice to get out of the cold. My wife and I couldn't ask for a better area for the kids. Hope the neighborhood is welcoming and things go well.
