So if you walk into the Epicenter with your hat on backwards, and the CMPD tells you to reverse and you don't, not one but two cops will arrest you which includes cuffing and and being hauled off to jail. This seems like a horrendous waste of police & court resources especially in a city where people are getting shot dead on the street.

One guy is so upset that he started a movement.

He has a faceb00k page. (note, this isn't an endorsement of FB)

Rules are Rules. It's not like this is a Law that states no Citizen shall wear a backwards hat. It's what Epicentre wants to do on it's own property. Just like I don't complain when there is a "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service" rule that gas stations have. I just avoid gas stations that have a "Must have Shirt" policy (I go swimming and sometimes when we get done, we like to go in the local gas station and get chips and stuff). This guy should do the same and get over it.

If I don't want someone wearing a hat backwards at my house, then they either turn their hat the right way or get off my property. Apparently, Epicentre has the same attitude I have. That being said, I have no problem with backwards hats. I actually wear my hat backwards quite often. But I am not the owner of the Epicentre so my opinion really doesn't matter. It seems to me like someone wants a few minutes of fame.

I'd gladly trade them the backwards hat for making kids pull their pants up to cover their arse.

There was a story on the incident in the Observer, complete with an explanation of the rules that are posted, which includes no backwards hats. If you don't follow the rules then you get what you get. If you don't like the rule don't go.

Just curious here since I am not up to par with the latest "gang garb". Is the hat backwards thing suppose to signify something other than baseball-player-wannabe? Is it affiliated with gangs or thugery?

But I HIGHLY doubt anyone was arrested for wearing their hat backwards

If they were arrested it was for refusing to leave private property, or maybe for failure to follow instructions of law enforcement (meaning they wouldn't leave!).

The thread title is misleading and inflammatory.

I guess "technically" he was arrested for not following orders, but you could also say the same thing if you're arrested for speeding.

It's not "technically" - he was on private property and refused to comply with a posted dress code. When he refused to leave he was arrested for second degree trespassing.

This is not rocket science folks.

Or are you saying property owners should lose the right to decide what goes on on their own property??
