Ha, maja-- I know you did not mean to be "rude" that's why I said that in my last message. I know you are concerned, but trust me, you will find these trailers all over due to overcrowding. I hope we can catch up with the growth, but it may take some time.

Maja,

These types of fees have been controversial for some time. Builders have fought successfully to prevent such measures.

those trailers were used last year. a new high school is opening this month in marvin, taking about 50% of the weddington hs kids who live near the new school. the trailers will not be used but are staying, maybe for future growth??

"I guess the rest of us should just pony up more tax dollars to house kids whose parents have yet to even begin to pay taxes here so that upon arrival everything will be shiny and new."
that is in part the draw to the area. we dont even mind the occasional trailer home with the 30 yo car on the lawn.

Perhaps but according to this chart Weddington Elementary is expected to open the 07-08 school year very close to capacity. Expected enrollment numbers are always hard to predict. They may already have 804 students registered. This chart was released in February 2007.

I never did understand the issue with mobile classrooms. Once you are in the classroom, it looks just like any other classroom. They are air conditioned and heated, and have everything that a permanent classroom has.
The advantage to the TAX PAYER is they cost less and for the STUDENT it takes care of overcrowding. If there is high enrolment then add trailers, if they aren’t needed transfer them where they are needed.

I think parents need to focus on the education part instead of how pretty the school is. If Johnny can’t read it doesn’t really matter that the school he went to was a pretty one.

We had trailers in the mountains in CA in the 60"s. This is nothing new. And as the above poster said...it's the education you get not the place you get the education. Heck, I went to a one room school that burned down one year and we actually had school in a tent until they got it rebuilt. I moved from that town eventually with an education years over my peers. Keep an open mind while checking out the local schools.

Loving life is on a distinguished road
Hi ya all,

Well It sounds like we need to cancel our visit next week. We are suppose to fly across the entire country to see Charlotte?? We are suppose to meet our realtor out in your neck of the woods..and search for an overall easier way of life and cost of living...BUT ya all out in Charlotte got's me scratching my head...So it does NOT sound to be any SLOWER, LESS CROWDED, CHEAPER..utility bills, taxes, insurance etc....Well, I just confirmed I can not cancel my flight for a refund! I guess I can still come out your way and going fishing? You still have fishing? Or have all of the newcomers taken that away as well.............bummed in CA.
