We are moving to the Charlotte area. Our daughter will need to finish 2 years of high school. We need to send her to a public school. Does anyone know anything about Hopewell? And what is the area around there like? Is Tanner's Creek a nice area? thanks

Tanners Creek is a great neighborhood. The area toward the McIllwaine side is the best IMO. The HOA is very involved but not overpowering. Nice people, good location. The home values are really going up there. I know someone who bought over there less than a year ago and has over 16k in equity, and maybe I am wrong, but I thought that was pretty good for like 10 months.

There are some bad apples at that school (like at N Meck) that come from areas of town (Charlotte side of Beatties Ford/Sunset) that are rougher and their parents may not be as involved. But for the most part, it is a decent school.

Hopewell made Newsweek top 1300 usa high schools

Tanner creek is a cute subdivision. Very close to Latta Plantation Park and Mountain Island Lake.

Brief photo idea of what the area looks like

thanks kmway. Do you think that Hopewell is better than N. Mech HS?

Sunny Kayak, thanks for those pictures. Do you know what the price range is there? I saw one house for about 225K

I would say that simply because of the overcrowding issues and the incidents of problems with students having pretty brutal fights at N Meck, I'd go with Hopewell. Their have actually been fewer incidents at Hopewell.

I can tell you that the ranges are 178k and up. The new construction houses are a tad over $200k for the most part some going up to $225k with different options. There are also under 100 townhomes, most with garages, two or three story and they are going for 125k-145k.

this sounds like a good area for us to check out. Long commute to uptown?
Any other areas in Hopewell school area for me to look at. We want to stay around $180-200k.

base on what I pulled up on Trulia there homes from 189k to 235k most was 3 bedroom 2400 sq ft ball park
I will admit this not best for pulling up all listings but I love it map feature.

thanks kmway. I am feeling better and better about this school and area. We live 9 hours away so we can't just come check it out. My husband is still in the interviewing process but if he comes down again I am coming with him. Our daughter is not real happy about moving but she met a few people from Hopewell on line that she seems to like and it is helping her deal with the potential move. She is convinced that it has to be Hopewell. So that is why I started looking for schools near there and it looks like Tanner's Creek is right next to the school.
