Anyone know of a company that rents goats? I have 5 acres down in Waxhaw and would like to have a few goats spend a week or so at my house taking care of all the under brush and kudzu I have going on. I know it sounds crazy but a lot of people are doing it. Closest place I could find was in Durham. I would really be interested if anyone has used a similar type service. Thanks!!

Why don't you just get a bush hog? Its like $85 an acre last I checked.

I'm sorry that I don't have any information for you but wanted to thank you for teaching me that there is such a thing as goat rentals.

Can't tell you how surprised I was when I Googled goat rentals and got Goatfinder, Rent-A-Goat, Rent-A-Ruminant, Goats R Us, etc.

There was an article on WSOC yesterday about Davidson College renting goats to clear Kudzu. You cannot brush hog Kudzu from my experience. It tangles around everything. They used Wells Farm Weed Management. I know a couple people who purchased goats for this purpose.

Thanks for the info, Microsoft uses rent a goat once a year for their kudzo as well. The bush hog really wouldnt work for the steep incline on some parts where I want them to clear. Plus I am being green, so I am hoping there is some tax loop hole I can use come next april

Going green and having hills were the two reasons given most often for using goats. I saw a segment on some TV show about this a few weeks ago. A woman brought her goats, then slept in her car onsite for 3 days while the goats did their thing.

I wonder how long it would take to recoup the cost if I installed an invisible fence, bought two pygmy goats, and fired the guy that does my yardwork. Plus, I'd be the only person in my neighborhood with goats. Goats aren't expensive, and they could just eat my yard.

I wonder if you could get a neighborhood goat. I have a natural area behind my house that really belongs to the city. It is always a mess. We talked about getting a goat {in jest} but was afraid it would be done in a day or two. Then what??
